The Princess’ hospitalisation occurred in late June after a horse-related incident at her Gloucestershire home, Gatcombe Park. Spending five nights at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, Princess Anne was treated for her injuries before being discharged. Just days after the accident, she made her first public appearance at an equine competition in Gloucestershire. In her first overseas trip since the incident, Anne flew to Paris to attend the 142nd International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session.
Princess Anne has a long-standing history with the Olympics, having been a member of the IOC since 1988 and serving as the president of the BOA. Her own Olympic journey began in 1976 at the Montreal Games, where she competed in a three-day equestrian event on the late Queen’s horse, Goodwill. Over the years, she has shown unwavering support for British athletes, even presenting a silver medal to her daughter, Zara Tindall, at the London 2012 Games.
During her recent visit to the British Embassy in Paris, Princess Anne met with Team GB athletes, including flag-bearers Helen Glover and Tom Daley.
