She quoted his mantra: ‘Look up, look out, say less, do more, get on with the job.’ Brandreth humorously pointed out that despite quoting this mantra, he seemed to be saying more over the years. As a founding trustee of the Queen’s Reading Room, the Queen has dedicated herself to projects that resonate with her interests. One of the Queen’s key initiatives is promoting literacy, a cause close to her heart. Reading has played a significant role in her life, and she believes in its transformative power. Gyles Brandreth, echoing her sentiments, became a patron of the literacy charity Schoolreaders. This organization provides volunteers to primary schools to offer one-to-one reading support, helping children enhance their skills and build confidence.

Each week, 27,000 children benefit from the support provided by Schoolreaders’ volunteers. By investing in literacy and education, Queen Camilla and her supporters are making a tangible difference in the lives of young learners. Their dedication to this cause reflects a genuine desire to create positive change and empower future generations.
